Havn't posted in awhile...

I figured that I should probably update everyone since some VERY minor events have happened...
Some background...dad has had 2 treatments of the yervoy so far, and he is responding well. He is more tired than usual, but is awake at least 60% of the day (which is what the doctor said to expect). He is more winded and coughs a lot but that is continuing effects of the radiation he recieved about a month to 6 weeks ago.
Now fast forward to this past week. Up until this point we had noticed my dad had been going down hill. More confused/having a hard time finding words, very winded, and at the peak sleeping 90%+ of the day. We finally decided that this was more than what we should be expecting with the yervoy and called the oncologist who had my dad come in. One very long day later, that included multiple tests and an MRI it was concluded that my dad's brain was swelling. We were told that regardles sof whether we did or did not do treatment, or we did or did not know about the cancer, this would have happened, and that my dad is just one of those people who needs the steroids (Even at a very low dose) to keep the swelling down and that he can live just fine like this. Even within 12 hours there was improvement and the day after he stayed awake most of the day and was much less confused. He is still recovering but is doing much much much better.
In addition to all of this, we learned with the MRI that while the tumor has not shrunk (Dr said it was way too early for it to start shrinking) it HAS stopped growing/not gotten any bigger which is great news!
In addition, my mom is no longer in the boot! She is in a walking cast and is getting around well. She uses a walker when we're out and about so that she has the extra balance but it is improving everyday!
Other than that, which seems like a lot, nothing much has been going on. We're still taking things one step and one day at a time and greatly appreciate all the prayers going up for Dad and our family.
We'd also like to thank Amy Ward for the repeat meals she has brought :) they are VERY much appreciated!
Hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday season! I am keeping my mantra of, "IT'S NOT CHRISTMAS YET" until friday :)
Happy Thanksgiving!
Susan
